While SEO can do a lot to get your content found, you do need to promote it if you want great results. And you should definitely promote and share your content more than once.
When you post on social media, not everyone on your list of followers and friends will see what you post.
You’ll get some views, but the way to increase those views, and also engagement with your posts, is to share multiple times.
So, how do you share your content for best effect?
Understand Your Audience
I know, I know. How many times have we mentioned this in the challenge? Lots! Because it really matters.
When you share anything you need to think about who will see it and how they’ll react to it:
- Does your audience want to see this?
- Do they need to see this?
- Is this going to add value for them?
If you can answer ‘yes’ to those questions, then you’re not annoying them by resharing. You’ll actually be doing them a disservice if you don’t share it enough so that people get the chance to see it.
Create a Schedule
Don’t just randomly share one post 45 times today. That isn’t going to work. Instead be creative about how you schedule re-shares so that they’re interspersed with new content as well.
Additionally, find out what the platforms you use say about sharing content more than once, then follow their guidelines.
What will also increase your effectiveness is if you check your platform analytics to find out best times to share to your audience.
Tip: You can save yourself a lot of effort with this if you use something like CoSchedule as the app works out the best times to post for you.
What Do You Believe?
Marketing is one of those things that some people react badly to. They think it’s sleazy and tricking people into buying something they don’t want, rather than being helpful. But that’s only true if that’s how you approach it.
Content marketing is an incredibly ethical way to sell, because you’re offering genuinely helpful, free content. And, when you do sell, it can be very subtle and not ‘in yer face’ BUY THIS NOW OR YOU’LL FOREVER MISS OUT AND YOUR HOUSE WILL FALL DOWN!
You don’t have to do that at all. In fact, it’s better if you don’t. How you market is actually down to you, so be genuine, be you and offer incredible value, both in your free content and in your paid offers.
When it comes to sharing your content, this can be another thing that people have very strong opinions on. It can make some people feel as if they’re bothering their audience and annoying them by posting the same thing again.
Think about it this way: Is that an actual, proven fact? Do you know for certain you’re annoying your audience? If not, chances are you’re doing just fine.
And if you don’t share your content more than once, then your audience is likely to miss out on your amazing writing, and not get the help they need.
Give Value
When you’re writing to genuinely help your audience and creating content that has great value, it’s really important that your audience gets to see it.
Think of it that way, and hopefully, you’ll feel great sharing it more than once, as you’re doing your best to make sure that everyone gets the information.
Change It Up
Even though you’re going to want to re-share your content multiple times, you don’t want every share to look the same.
Change it up! You could:
- Mention a different fact within your content
- Talk about a different person that you used as a source
- Pick a different statistic
- Use a different quote
- Use a new image or graphic
Sharing content more than once doesn’t take that much extra work if you do it right, and the rewards can be well worth it in terms of larger reach and more leads.
Just pull out 5 to 10 quotes from each piece of content, optimise the information for each social platform that you use, and set it up in your scheduling software.
It might add 20 minutes to your day but, if it doubles your views, it’s worth it!
Action Point!
This really follows on from yesterday. It’s a case of looking at how best you can share your content, and making sure you do it on a regular basis.
If you didn’t get to it yesterday, take a look at the apps that can help you automate your sharing and pick one to use. Try Meet Edgar, CoSchedule and Buffer.
